Paul Pogba put Manchester United's worst start in 27 years down to being "cursed"

Four successive home League draws have resulted in Manchester United worst start to a season after 13 games since Sir Alex Ferguson's winter of discontent in 1989-90 and left Pogba and his team-mates, not to mention Jose Mounrinho seething with frustration.

Even though there are two-thirds of the season to play, sixth-placed United's title hopes are already looking over because they are 11 points behind Chelsea and 10 adrift of Liverpool, neither of whom have any European commitments this season.

But Pogba says performances are not the problem – it is turning their superiority into goals. The total of 18 from their first 13 League games is United's lowest since they hit only 14 in 13 games at the start of the 2004-05 season.

"We're going to start thinking we're cursed," said Pogba. "It doesn't matter which team comes here, we dominate them, be it Arsenal or West Ham. Our luck will change at one time or another and it's then that we'll have to take it."

Paul Pogba believes luck is going against Manchester United at the moment

Ander Herrera has said Mourinho is happy with the way Man United are playing

But Pogba admits United have to stop conceding "daft" goals through lapses in concentration. West Ham scored with a header after only 90 seconds on Sunday a week after Arsenal had snatched an 89th-minute equaliser. In the first of the four home draws, Stoke pounced on a late error by David de Gea.

Pogba added: "We just have to pay attention to the small details. Against West Ham we conceded a daft goal, against Arsenal it was also the small details.

"We are dropping silly points but it will come. I'm still confident it will come right because we create chances."

Pogba will be suspended when United have a quick reunion with the Hammers tomorrow in the League Cup quarter-final after picking up his fifth caution of the season on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho has struggled to transform Manchester United's season

Marouane Fellaini is also banned for a fifth booking after coming on for the final few minutes on Sunday but Michael Carrick is expected to be fit again after missing Sunday's game with a slight knock.

And Bastian Schweinsteiger's chances of making his first appearance since March have suddenly improved thanks to the absences of Pogba and Fellaini. The Germany international, linked with a move to the MLS in January, was an unused sub on Sunday.

Mourinho may not be on the touchline for the game if he is charged with misconduct [will update later] and is given a touchline ban but Ander Herrera believes United are doing every thing right – apart from at the sharp end of the pitch.

"We know the manager is happy with the way we are playing," said Herrera.

"It cannot be different. We are doing good things. We play intense, we win the second balls, we create chances, we move the ball, we control the game, we have more possession than the opponents, we shoot on goal.

"I remember last season everyone said, 'Shoot, shoot, shoot'. Now we shoot I don't know how many times each game but we are not scoring. Hopefully the luck will turn in our favour."

You have to go back to Dave Sexton's spell as a manager in 1980 for the last time Untied drew four successive League games at home. But Herrera says the frustration is compounded because they have outplayed Stoke, Burnley, Arsenal and West Ham.

"We feel we are close to going on a winning run because we are better than every opponent," he added. "The best player for Stoke was their goalkeeper, and it was the same for Burnley, Arsenal and West Ham. We are looking to score maybe half of the chances we create and we will win 4-1 every game.
